Neither Snow nor Rain nor Gloom of Night

The Postman's Motto applies to A Caring Place situation aptly. We deliver noon meals two times a week to elderly and disabled people who have no other food resources except A Caring Place. So recently, Lexington had a patch of very wintry weather: schools were closed, travel advisories were everywhere. Stacy Federico, our Director for our Meal Ministry, had to make a decision as to whether allow our volunteer drivers to challenge the weather, and their personal safety, or cancel delivery for the week (yes, travel warnings were that the weather would not clear for days).
So she cancelled, but then thought of our participants, who would literally go hungry........for days!!! So the owners of Sequel (our non-profit caterers) Greg and Sharon Asbury, and Stacy, decided they would deliver the food themselves for the entire week. So laden with many many boxes of food they set out. Not easy, then sun had set, and it was dark. Very poor visibility and icy areas. Stacy described Greg as a very patient and calm driver, as he managed to forage through the storm. Without white knuckles? Stacy and Sharon then managed to deliver food to the door steps of every single participant.
I call this heroic. Yes, friends, these are the heroes of our day. Ordinary, unassuming folks who because of factors out of their control become the heroes to many.
Our heart are filled with gratitude for Stacy, Greg, and Sharon!!!!!
